The story behind the materials

Sola, or sholapith, has a long tradition in Indian religious and ceremonial craft. The craft is particularly associated with auspicious occasions such as weddings and Durga Puja, and is traditionally used to create flowers, garlands, temple décor and deity adornments. The natural white shola pith is also traditionally regarded as sacred and symbolic of purity.

Bael, or bilva, holds a special place in Shiva worship. Bilwa leaves are among the sacred offerings made to Lord Shiva, giving the bael element in this toran a meaningful spiritual association.

Together, these natural elements create a toran that feels rooted in Indian tradition, yet beautifully at home in a contemporary home.
